Wolf Tattoos – Meanings and Pictures

Wolf Tattoo meaning – the wolf tattoo has a lot of meanings, such as: devotion, loyal, honest, moral, powerful (more like a panda bear / bear) and with a lot of strength. They are also related to survival (they are territorial animals, yet their main goal is to survive and hunt). They are also related to confidence and intelligence (a fox and a raven are also/both intelligent animals). As wolfs are badass animals, consider such a tattoo only if you are a badass or want a badass tattoo. They also hunt. Consider all these meanings before doing a tattoo. It’s also related to rebirth/phoenix (see here). One other meaning of wolves is the family itself: one of the reason they survive and are so intelligent is that they hunt and do everything in their family (around 10 animals per family). They are social animals, but kinda afraid of humans (or shy). Here are some pictures, maybe your next wolf tattoo:

Wolf Symbolism:

  • Irish mythology: Cormac ua Cuinn (or the King of Ireland) was raised by wolves.
  • Roman mythology: Romulus and Remus were raised and feed by the Capitoline Wolf. You can see a picture here. So, wolves were not always associated with being scary and attacking humans, but also with protecting humans. Also, romans associated wolves with the sun.
  • Turks mythology: in this case people believed wolves were their ancestors.
  • Native American tribes: the wolves were respected by some native American tribes (you can see this in movies also).
  • In literature: most important, the Little Red Riding Hood story. In this case the Wolf is related to rebirth and transforming into an adult.

Wolf Tattoo Placement ideas – you can always choose the placement ideas that celebrities have. For example Chris Brown has a huge wolf tattoo on his neck. But you can also have your tattoo in lots of other places, such as: on your arm, on your back (mostly if you are a girl/woman), on your chest (for boys/men), on your forearm, on your hand, on your knee, on your wrist, but also tons of other locations. Another picture with a wolf tattoo for your back (perfect for women):
