Raven Tattoo Meaning – Symbolism and Ideas

Raven Tattoo Meaning – at first, altough some people believe ravens/crows are scary, you need to think them as birds, not just some scary creatures. Here are a couple of meanings: messenger (the messenger for the next/death world), about fate, intelligence (mostly because crows are smart, also have strategy). Altough some consider ravens evil, they aren’t like that. They are social creatures and smart. Altough they are messengers of the death world, they are also called signs of Good Luck, but only in Greek mythology. In Hindu mythology the crows also mean surviving. You might not know, but in some countries the raven is the national bird. One of these countries is Bhutan. Here are some pictures with raven tattoos for women:

Raven symbolism ideas:

  • Celtic mythology: in the Celtic mythology some gods and goddess were related to ravens. Morrígan and Badb. Badb was also a goddess (of war). She could fly and take form of a crow and cause fear along the enemies. So, besides being smart, crows/ravens can also cause fear (maybe not to enemies, but to people). Some people would be afraid of your tattoo, while others won’t.
  • Wolf + raven symbol: like ravens, wolfs are also smart. But before that, both animals are sacred. Both are smart, yet along the time people tested both in battles to see which one is smarter. Besides that, there are also songs about “Wolf and Raven”. For example, Odin, a very big god (but only in the Scandinavian mythology), had two types of creatures along him – ravens and wolfs.
